Multi-core technology
The 2009 GDC Demo for Simul Weather uses the latest features of the SDK – rain, lightning, multiple cloud layers – and Intel® Threading Building Blocks (TBB), which spreads the calculation load over multiple cores:
Multi-core cloud generation
Threading can be enabled or disabled individually for each cloud layer. When enabled, it uses the cores available to divide the calculations evenly, producing up to a 4x speed increase. Try it in the demo and see the difference!
