- Cubemap export exposure not yet enabled.
0.9.11
New Features
- As well as the binary “.cloud” format, it is now possible to save and load clouds in xml as “.cloud.xml” files. This has been introduced now as the binary format may soon change.
Fixed Issues
- Non-raytrace clouds can now be rendered in Shader Model 2.0 cards.
Known Issues
- Raytrace clouds require a Shader Model 3.0 card. This is unlikely to change as extremely complex shaders are required to raytrace on hardware.
0.9.10
Fixed Issues
- Device-lost errors on mobile video cards.
Known Issues
- Shader Model 3.0 card required – SM2.0 support to be added later.
0.9.9
Fixed Issues
- Scrollbars for Export and Environment pages help with lower screen resolutions.
0.9.8
Fixed Issues
- Any change of screen mode (screen savers, switching users, etc.) previously stopped CloudWright from rendering correctly when it resumed. This is now, hopefully, fixed.
- Exit now correctly checks whether the cloud file needs saved.
Known Issues
- Smaller screen resolutions can make some interface elements hard to reach.
- Banding of cloud render layers when the clouds are high above the viewer.
0.9.7
New Features
- Undo has been added!
- There’s a “default” button in the render area to reset the values.
- Camera Interface now uses degrees instead of radians.
- Detail slider and “Extra detail” box have been replaced with two separate sliders – “Realtime Detail” and “Cubemap Detail”, setting the number of steps (out of 255) as a percentage.
Fixed Issues
- Modifications to Cellular Cloud Grid were not enabling “Recalculate” button.
Known Issues
- Shaders are Pixel/Vertex Shader 3.0 and above only; we’re working on supporting 2.0 for future releases.
- Screensavers can mess up the renderer, necessitating a restart of CloudWright.
0.9.6
Fixed Issues
- Incorrect values shown in cloud property sheet and crashes when these values are modified.
Known Issues
- Progress bars don’t fill to 100% on Vista.
0.9.5
Fixed Issues
- Even with the DirectX 9.0c redistributable, the d3dx9 dll’s are not included, causing failure on startup on any computer without this dll. Fixed this and removed the DX9c redist – it more than doubled the size of the installer. It’s now linked as a separate download for those who need it.
- Fixed various issues of Vista compatibility.
0.9.4
Fixed Issues
- Node-edit property sheets corrected.
0.9.3
New Features
- Options are now present in Tools > Options to send messages and errors to CloudWright.log.
Fixed Issues

Known Issues
- Secondary scattering exhibits some “banding” visible at sunrise and sunset.
0.9.2
Fixed Issues
- Cubemaps are now saved in the correct specified directory.
0.9.1
Fixed Issues
- Hogging CPU when in background.
- “Hiccuping” due to constant redraws when “Recalculate” is enabled.
- “Cancel” button only cancelling current process.
- Property panel flickering when rebuilt.
- Bad sizing of control panel.
Known Issues
- Tooltips impair rendering on some video cards. Temporary fix: select “Tools menu > Options…”, disable tooltips.
